Activities

The weekend offers 2 windows of opportunities for outings and tours: Saturday 9:30 to 4:00 and Sunday afternoon 1:00 to 5:00.  These are wonderful opportunities to get to know Vermont, its beautiful landscape and people, and have a special adventure.   For those who prefer to go off on their own we are happy to assist or explore as you wish.

Weekend Open Studio  – Vermont artists & craftspeople open their studios to the public for the weekend, creating an educational event that lets you see the artist at work and an opportunity for visitors to preview creations and purchase.  We will design tours based on interest of the group. (Saturday or Sunday)

Central Vermont’s Natural Riches – Maple, Granite and People – we will take an excursion to the largest granite quarry in the world, the Rock of Ages quarry – observing the quarrying operation from above, as well as seeing many of the beautiful products made from the granite.  Next stop is to an old maple sugaring operation that has been in the same family for 7 generations with a slide show explaining the process and tasting of course.  And lastly time to browse our capital city, Montpelier, and see the beautiful State House with its 57 foot gold filigree dome. (Saturday only)

Kayaking and or Canoeing – Our area boasts  some of the most picturesque lakes and waterways in Vermont, we supply the boat, paddle, life jacket and water for any level boater. (Saturday or Sunday)Kyak

Carving Studio and Sculpture Center – A special tour of the center which offers unique sculpture education programs amid inactive quarries and former manufacturing facilities of the Vermont Marble Company. Since 1987, sculptors, students and connoisseurs have traveled to West Rutland, Vermont to draw inspiration from the native marble and the creative spirit that lingers from the once global industry that thrived here. (Sunday only)

Hiking – Spectacular vistas, quiet beautiful mountains, rolling hills or trails; distance and challenge matched to skill level. (Saturday or Sunday)

Custom Outings – We want you to have a great time – so we also offer custom designed outings on a one to one basis or for a group.  Some examples would be historical sites such as battle fields and cemeteries; golf outing; biking for the beginner or the expert; antiquing; caving, waterfalls and more. There are lots of options.

Picnic lunches will be provided on day long tours.
